Short biography

Born 1976, grew up in Wittinsburg, lives in Basle. Ten years of piano lessons. At 17, began singing lessons. University of Music, Basle (Sandy Patton and Susanne Abbühl). In 1999 awarded a scholarship from the Friedl Wald Stiftung (jury member: George Gruntz) and forms her first band. In 2001 named best solo artist at the Montreux OFF Festival (jury member: Thierry Lang). Lecturer in the Jazz Department of the University of Music, Basle since 2006. Has toured extensively in Switzerland and overseas with, among others, the European Jazz Youth Orchestra, Cojazz (Andy Scherrer, Stephan Kurmann, and Peter Schmidlin), BraffOesterRohrer, Theodosii Spassov, Christoph Stiefel, Adrian Mears (Requiem Op. 48, Der Berner Totentanz), Jean-Paul Brodbeck, Fabian Gisler, Domenic Landolf, Thomas Moeckel, Franz Hellmüller, Rafi Woll.

Forms first group – a quartet with Oliver Friedli (piano), Patrick Sommer (bass) and Andreas Hoerni (drums)
2000 Opening concert of the Basle Off-Beat jazz festival, alongside acts such as Omara Portuondo, vocalist with the Buena Vista Social Club
2001 Zurich jazz festival in Moods im Schiffbau (wins the Chrysler breakthrough act award)
Named best solo artist the Montreux OFF Festival (jury member: Thierry Lang)
2002 Berne Jazz Festival
2003 Swiss tour (Suisse Diagonales Jazz) with her quartet
International Jazz Meeting, Helsinki (Finland), led by Dave Liebman
Basle Off-Beat Jazz Festival, appearing on the same billing as Jane Monheit
Four-week European tour with the European Jazz Youth Orchestra, led by Bruno Tommaso
2004 Formation of the Siawaloma Quintet with Colin Vallon (piano), Alex Hendriksen (sax, flute), Patrice Moret (bass) and Michi Stulz (drums, percussion)
